Environmental Certification Steps

Environmental certification achieves environmental compliance with federal EPA laws and regulations. Environmental compliance also can improve business efficiencies and cost reductions as a direct result of better process control, operations management, quality management, and issue resolution.

Getting certification consists of the following steps:

1. Determination of which EPA laws apply to your business.

2. Development of an environmental management system (EMS).

3. Internal auditing to see if the environmental management system is working.

4. Accredited external auditing of the environmental management system.

5. Certification by the accredited external auditing body.
